Free Word to PDF Converter

Choose a .docx file and get a plain, A4-sized PDF of its text. The file is read in your browser and the tool does not upload it. It copies the text only, so images, tables and styling are not included.

Why use this tool?

Why use this tool?

Sometimes you only need the words from a Word file in a format that opens anywhere: a quick copy of an assignment, a text-only version of a report, or notes you want to share without the original file. This tool does that in two clicks. If your document depends on its layout, fonts or images, export the PDF from Word instead.

How to use it

How to use it

  1. Step 1

    Choose your file

Click the upload area and select a .docx file from your device.
  2. Step 2

    Convert

Click "Convert to PDF". The tool reads the text from your document.
  3. Step 3

    Download

Click "Download PDF" to save the file. It has the same name as your Word file.
  4. Step 4

    Check the result

Open the PDF and confirm the text looks right before sharing it.

What this tool does

The converter opens a .docx file, pulls out its text, and writes that text into a new PDF. The PDF uses A4 portrait pages. The name of your file is printed in bold at the top of the first page, and the text follows below it. The result is a clean text document, not a copy of the original page design.

How the conversion works

First, your browser reads the selected file into memory. Next, the mammoth library extracts the raw text from the .docx. Then the jsPDF library places that text on A4 pages, wrapping lines to fit and starting a new page when one is full. Finally, the PDF is saved to your device with the same name as your Word file. All of this runs on the page itself, so a very large document can make the browser slow for a while.

When this tool is the right choice

Use it when the content matters more than the design: drafts, notes, plain essays and text-heavy documents in English or other Latin-script languages. Do not use it for resumes, brochures, forms or anything with tables, pictures or special fonts. Those parts will not appear in the PDF.

Features explained

Text extraction from .docx

The tool reads the text of your document paragraph by paragraph. This is what makes the PDF searchable and selectable. Formatting such as bold, colours, headings and font sizes is not kept.

Automatic A4 pagination

Long text is wrapped to the page width and continues on new pages automatically. You cannot change the page size, margins or font size.

File name as title

The Word file name, without its extension, is printed as a bold heading on the first page and is also used as the PDF file name. Rename your file before converting if you want a different title.

Click-to-browse upload

You pick the file through your device's file dialog. Drag and drop is not available. The dialog only offers .docx files, and any other file type shows an error.

Manual download and reset

After conversion the page shows the file name and two buttons. Download PDF saves the result. Convert another file clears the page so you can start again.

No watermark, no sign-in step

The tool adds nothing to your PDF except the title and your own text, and it does not ask you to log in or enter an email before converting.

What can you use it for?

Text-only copy of an assignment

Turn an essay or lab write-up into a PDF when the content is what matters and the layout is not.

Sharing notes

Send meeting notes or study notes as a PDF without passing around the editable Word file.

Archiving plain documents

Keep a simple, readable version of a text-heavy document in a format that opens on any device.

Checking the text of a file

If a .docx looks broken in another app, converting it shows what text mammoth can actually read from it.

Benefits

  • Works in the browser with nothing to install
  • Two clicks from a .docx to a downloadable PDF
  • No watermark and no sign-in step in the tool
  • The tool does not upload your file

Limitations

  • Only the text is converted. Images, tables, headers, footers, colours, bold, italics and page layout are not carried over.
  • The PDF uses the built-in Helvetica font. Characters outside basic Latin, such as Bengali, Arabic or Chinese, may not display correctly. Open the PDF and check it before sharing.
  • Only .docx files work. Older .doc files must be saved as .docx in Word first.
  • Password-protected or damaged files cannot be read and will show an error.
  • There is no progress bar or cancel button. Very large documents are processed on the page itself and can make the browser slow.
  • You cannot choose page size, margins, font or font size.

Security

The converter code does not send your document anywhere. The page reads the file, creates the PDF and saves it, all inside your browser. This statement covers the converter itself, not other scripts the site may load, such as analytics.

Privacy

We found no network request in the tool, so the Word file and the generated PDF are handled on your device. Nothing is stored by the tool between visits. If you use a shared computer, delete the downloaded PDF when you are done.

Tips

  • Open the PDF after downloading and read through it before sending it to anyone.
  • If you need the original design, use Save as PDF or Export in Word instead of this tool.
  • Rename the Word file first if you want a different title on the first page.
  • For a scanned document, this tool will not help, because it cannot read text from images.

Frequently asked questions

Will the PDF look like my Word document?

No. The tool copies the text only and places it on plain A4 pages. Images, tables, colours, headings and custom fonts are not kept.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

The tool itself does not upload it. The file is read and converted in your browser, and no network request was found in the tool code.

Can I convert a .doc file?

Not directly. Only .docx is accepted. Open the .doc file in Word, choose Save As, pick .docx, and then use the converter.

Why are my images and tables missing?

Only text is extracted from the document. Pictures are skipped and table content appears as plain text, not as a table.

Does it work with Bengali or other non-English text?

It may not. The PDF uses the built-in Helvetica font, which does not cover Bengali and many other scripts. Check the PDF carefully before using it.

Is there a file size limit?

The tool sets no limit. Large files are processed on the page itself, so they can be slow or fail on devices with little memory.

Can I convert a password-protected document?

No. The tool cannot open protected files and will show a "could not read" error. Remove the password in Word and try again.

Do I need an account, and is there a watermark?

The tool has no sign-in step and adds no watermark to the PDF.

What will the PDF be called?

It uses your Word file name with .pdf at the end. The same name is printed as the heading on the first page.

Can I convert several files at once?

No. Convert one file, download it, then click "Convert another file" to start the next.
