WebP to JPG Converter

Turn .webp images into standard .jpg files that open in almost any editor, app or upload form. You can convert several files in one go, set the JPG quality, and choose what colour fills transparent areas. The conversion runs in your browser, and this tool does not upload your images.

Drag and drop WebP images here

or click to choose files (.webp, up to 20 MB each)

Your images are converted in your browser. This tool does not upload them to a server.

Why use this tool?

Why use this tool?

What this converter does

You add one or more WebP files, and the converter redraws each image on a canvas in your browser and saves it as a JPG. The JPG keeps the same width and height as the original. Each file is converted separately, so one image does not affect another.

Why convert WebP to JPG

WebP is made for fast websites, so you often end up with it after saving an image from a web page. The trouble starts when you try to use that file elsewhere. Some editing programs, document tools, print services and upload forms accept only JPG or PNG. Converting to JPG is the quickest way around that, and JPG files are also easy to share by email or chat.

How the conversion works

The browser reads your file and loads it as an image. The tool then creates a canvas of the same size, fills it with the background colour you chose, draws the image on top, and exports the canvas as a JPG at the selected quality. Files are converted one after another, not all at the same time. Because the work happens on your device, large images or long lists can take a while, and the page does not show a progress bar.

Quality and file size

The quality slider runs from 30% to 100% in steps of 5%, and it starts at 90%. A higher value keeps more detail and gives a larger file. A lower value gives a smaller file but can show blur or blocky edges, especially around text and sharp lines. JPG is always a lossy format, so even 100% is a new compression pass and not an exact copy of the WebP.

Transparent backgrounds

WebP can have transparent areas, but JPG cannot. Before drawing your image, the tool fills the canvas with a solid colour, white by default. Anything transparent in the WebP will show that colour in the JPG. Pick a colour that matches where you plan to use the image, for example a dark colour for a logo that will sit on a dark page.

Converting many files at once

You can select several files together, drop them in, or add more files in later rounds. All of them use the same quality and background settings. The tool does not set a limit on the number of files, but each file must be 20 MB or smaller, and your browser memory is the practical limit for very long lists. Every converted image gets its own download button, and there is no ZIP download.

File names

The downloaded file keeps the original name with the .webp ending changed to .jpg, so photo.webp becomes photo.jpg.

Features explained

Drag and drop or click to browse

Drop files on the upload area or click it to open the file picker. The picker shows WebP images only.

Several files at once

Select many files together or add more later. You can remove any single file from the list before converting.

Quality slider

Choose 30% to 100% to balance detail against file size. It applies to every file in the list.

Background colour picker

Decide which colour replaces transparent areas. White is the default.

Manual download

Nothing downloads automatically. After conversion you click the download button for each JPG you want.

Start over

The reset button clears the list and the converted results so you can begin with new files.

What can you use it for?

Uploading to a form that rejects WebP

Job portals, ID or document upload pages and some online shops accept JPG but not WebP.

Opening an image in an older editor

Convert first if your photo editor or office program cannot open a .webp file.

Sharing images saved from websites

Pictures saved from a browser are often WebP. A JPG is easier to send to friends or colleagues.

Logos and graphics on a set background

Choose a background colour so transparent logos or cut-outs look right once they become JPG.

Benefits

  • Makes WebP images usable in programs and forms that only accept JPG.
  • Handles several files with the same settings.
  • Lets you control file size with the quality slider.
  • Gives transparent images a background colour you picked instead of a random one.
  • Does not upload your images through this tool.

Limitations

  • Only .webp files are accepted. Other formats are rejected with an error.
  • Each file can be at most 20 MB.
  • If any file in a selection is not a valid WebP or is too large, the whole selection is rejected and none of those files are added. Remove the problem file and try again.
  • JPG is lossy, so the result is never an exact copy of the WebP, even at 100%.
  • JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas always become a solid colour.
  • JPG cannot play animation, so an animated WebP will not give you an animated result.
  • Files are converted one by one on your device. There is no progress bar and no cancel button, so very large files or long lists can make the page slow.
  • Each converted image has its own download button, and there is no option to download everything as one ZIP.

Privacy

The conversion happens in your browser. The tool reads your files on your device and creates the JPG there, and it makes no network request to send your images anywhere. Converted files exist in your browser memory until you start over or leave the page. This describes the converter itself, and the rest of the website, such as analytics or ads, works separately.

Tips

  • Start with the default 90% quality. Lower it only if you need a smaller file, and compare the result before using it.
  • For logos or screenshots with text, keep quality high so edges stay clean.
  • Pick the background colour before you convert, because changing it afterwards means converting again.
  • Convert a small batch first if you have many large images.
  • Open one converted file to check the result before you download the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. This tool converts the files in your browser and does not send them to a server. Other parts of the website, such as analytics, are separate from the converter.

Do I need an account?

No. The tool has no sign-in or payment step. Add your files and convert them.

How many files can I convert at once?

The tool sets no limit on the number of files. Each file must be 20 MB or smaller, and a very long list may slow down your browser because everything is processed on your device.

Will the JPG look worse than the WebP?

It can, slightly. JPG is a lossy format. At 90% or above the difference is usually hard to see for photos, but a low setting can blur fine detail.

What happens to transparent parts of my image?

They are filled with the background colour you choose, which is white by default, because JPG cannot store transparency.

Can I download all the JPGs as one ZIP?

No. After conversion, each image has its own download button, and you click the ones you need.

Why was my whole selection rejected?

The tool checks every file you add. If one is not a WebP image or is larger than 20 MB, it shows an error and adds none of the files from that selection. Remove the file that caused the problem and add the rest again.

Does it keep animation from an animated WebP?

No. JPG is a still-image format, so you should not expect an animated result.
